Event: Keynote Chief Registrar of the European Court of Human Rights Marialena Tsirli at Strasbourg Observers 15th Anniversary Symposium

The keynote of our two-day Strasbourg Observers 15th Anniversary Symposium will be held by the Chief Registrar of the European Court of Human Rights Dr. Marialena Tsirli. Next Friday 9th of May at 14:00, Dr. Tsirli will speaking on the big picture evolutions at the European Court of Human Rights and how the work of the Registry has developed in this context. This keynote will be streamed so that it can be followed by our readers and contributors online. You can register for the online event through this link. Dr. Marialena Tsirli has held the position of Registrar of the European Court of Human Rights since November 1, 2020. She is the first woman to serve in this role since the Court’s establishment. A Greek national, Ms. Tsirli has had a distinguished career within the Council of Europe, having joined the Court in 1994. Over the years, she has held various senior legal positions, first as Head of Division, then Deputy Section Registrar, Section Registrar and Deputy Registrar.

Known for her deep expertise in human rights law and institutional governance, Ms. Tsirli plays a central role in the administration of the Court and its Registry, ensuring the effective handling of thousands of applications annually. Her leadership has been marked by a commitment to judicial independence, transparency, and the integrity of the Convention system.
